Photojournalist, professional traveler, documentary photographer for an incurable soulful need.
Staunch advocate of the journey as an irreplaceable means of knowledge, he uses the art of the visual storytelling to depict the struggles and contradictions within the world. With the methodological precision of a photojournalist and the completeness of the narrator’s vision he devotes himself above all to those stories that want to remain hidden.
As professional freelance photographer he works with NGOs, on assignment for newspapers and journals, in many different countries; among them Cameroon, RD Congo, Tanzania, Moçambique, Angola, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Mindanao, Argentina, Venezuela and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Iraq, Syria, etc...
When possible, he prefers to dive into stories with medium-long term projects. Teacher by vocation, he loves to make workshops to help people to recognize and develop their own narrative ability.
Based in Italy and Buenos Aires. Available for assignment all around the world

I'm Africa
Gabriele Orlini
The whole area of Kapanga is mostly roadless and disconnected from the communication network of the country. The area, also due to the presence of the Lulua River, is very rich in forests and fields where it is cultivated cassava. To walk in these areas is particularly difficult and dangerous.

mAma - 9 Moon
Gabriele Orlini
9 Moons is a project about one of the side effects of sexual assault on women in Africa: to be the mother of a child born from rape, unwanted but accepted by the tribal society in which they live.
A "Nobody's Child" like most of the children that feed a community without men but full of women, more and more often considered at the mercy of everyone to mantain a socio-cultural harmony in the village.
9 Moons focuses on the "silence", on the "absence", on the psicological presence of the male maker. He's a bit player, not an actor; he's hidden in the background, never present and never responsible.
And on the women, the daughters of "nine moons", with the sole task of giving life to an Individual who is going to fill up the collection of Men, already full to the brim.
