Australian photojournalist, Asanka Brendon Ratnayake (b.1984) started his career at the respected Sunday Leader Newspaper in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2010. Since then he has specialised in news, sport and reportage throughout Asia and Australia.
He has worked on assignment for the likes of The New York Times, Associated Press, Reuters, Getty, Al Jazeera, Anadolu Agency, The Sunday Times, NRC Handelsblad and The Telegraph.
Having built the foundation of his career working in the demanding and unpredictable Asian region; Asanka Brendon has established a reputation as an attentive, ethical and diligent reporter specialising in content for international news services and foreign bureaus.
His images have appeared in numerous publications such as Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Der Spiegel, The Guardian, National Geographic & Sports Illustrated to name a few.
He is also an accomplished documentary travel photographer, represented by Lonely Planet/Getty Images.
When not on assignment he works as a commercial photographer using his reportage aesthetic in commercial photographic and visual communication strategies via his company ABRmedia
Asanka Brendon is currently located in his hometown of Melbourne Australia and is available for commissioned editorial, sport, humanitarian/NGO & commercial work worldwide. He is also a member of the Frontline Freelance Register.
