Adria Malcolm

Adria Malcolm is an independent visual journalist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has spent the last four years documenting the tiny town of Santa Rosa as a contributor to The Guadalupe County Communicator. The rural town is a place defined by working class Hispanic culture, dried up desert, backcountry ranchers and dying storefronts that have allowed her to tell the stories of the hardships rural America faces.
In 2011, she began her long-term story "Nanny Goat" about a young woman losing herself to younger-onset Alzheimer's disease. Still in progress, she hopes to turn the story into a short documentary.
Her work has been published in national outlets such as The New York Times and BuzzFeed News, and is a regular contributing cinematographer for the Santa Fe Opera House and the Santa Fe Tourism Department.
In addition to her work as a visual journalist, she is a guest teaching artist at Working Classroom, instructing workshops and classes in documentary photography and cinematography to middle school and high school students from under represented communities in the arts.
She graduated in 2012 from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism, and has been awarded numerous regional awards for her work.
