Ali Lapetina is a photographer and educator based in Detroit, Michigan. Her work explores stories of transition - focusing on immigrant and refugee integration and longtime residents living within post-industrial cities in America. Ali graduated from the College for Creative Studies in 2013 with a BFA in Photography and a minor in Advertising Design. In 2014, she founded Women of Banglatown, an all women’s community space offering free art activities for young girls and income generating activities for Bengali women in Detroit.
She has been commissioned by LeMonde, The Washington Post, National Geographic, Michigan Radio and The New York Times, among others.
