Alessio Paduano

Born and currently based in Naples, Italy. Thanks to a scholarship I studied one year in Paris at the “Université Paris VII – Denis Diderot“. In 2007 I started working as a contributor and a photographer for several Italian newspapers. In 2009 I graduated in Sociology at the “Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II” with a dissertation in journalism, in which I analysed the different slant between newspapers Le Monde and Corriere della Sera. In 2010 I started studying on the MA Photojournalism programme at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli where I got my degree with honours.
Some of my work have been exhibited in the PAN-Palazzo Arti Napoli (Italy), Castel dell’ Ovo (Naples, Italy), Biennal of Bibbiena (Italy), Palm Spring Photo Festival (California), Tel Aviv Photo Fair (Israel).
I regularly publishing in the National and International magazines, including Corriere della Sera, Famiglia Cristiana, Il Venerdì di Repubblica, Internazionale, The Guardian, Newsweek, Time, Rolling Stone, New York Daily News.
My researches have been set in Italy, Romania, Tunisia, Egypt, Poland, Ukraine, Greece, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia telling stories related to current issues.
I am available to work worldwide.

A migrant tries to board a boat of the German NGO Sea-Watch in the Mediterranean Sea on November 6, 2017. During a shipwreck, five people died, including a newborn child. According to the German NGO Sea-Watch, which has saved 58 migrants, the violent behavior of the Libyan coast guard caused the death of five persons.

September 16, 2015 – Horgos, Serbia: Migrants throw rocks and try to remove the gates during clashes with Hungarian anti-riot police at the Serbian border with Hungary. Hungary's border with Serbia has become a major crossing point into the European Union, with more than 160,000 access Hungary so far this year. - Hungary has introduced tough new laws to administer the influx of migrants and has declared a state of emergency in two of it's counties close to the border. The new laws have created a dead end for migrants arriving at the Horgos frontier post, resulting in clashes with migrants and Hungarian police.

January 27, 2016 – Calais, France: A group of migrants is seen outside the camp of Calais, known as "The Jungle", where thousands of migrants live. While migrants have for years sought to cross over to Britain from Calais, the numbers have shot up since the refugee crisis went into overdrive last year.
