One might find it odd for these girls, these women, to want to dress up like a bride. But what occurs, for them, is a transformative moment, a moment where they transcend their context, their identities, and become something else, someone else. This series is part of a project for Aishwarya Tandon’s organisation ‘Nrinam’ (https://www.facebook.com/Nrinam/) which helps women gain employment in the impoverished locality of Wazirabad, Gurgaon, India. ‘Nrinam’ teaches skills that enable women in the area to become financially self-sufficient.
