Amira Djuric
Essaouira, Morocco
Welcome to my Digital Portfolio!
My name is Amira Djuric. I am half Moroccan, half Serbian but was born and bred in Belgium. For the past five years, I have delved into the world of street/documentary photography, principally in the Middle East and North Africa region, recording and sharing stories of displacement at the Lebanese-Syrian border as well as more daily life moments in the streets of Morocco. I recognise myself in the definition of a street photographer - as a flâneur on the streets who captures the details, the soul of a place or people. Having completed a masters in Middle East Politics from the SOAS University of London, my lens naturally turns towards socio-political themes, notably on the question of migration, refugees and statelessness. My inspiration is drawn from these themes and from what makes the everyday life - the details we pass by, that we look at but do not necessarily see.
