Amirtharaj Stephen is an award winning Tamil photographer based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His interests lies in documenting social and environment issues. He was selected for various workshops including the Angkor Photo Workshop, Stream Photo Asia Masterclass and has been a mentee under Lucie Foundation’s E-pprentice program. He was a nominee for the prestigious Joop Swart Master Class, 2014. He is also a winner of Catchlight’s Activist Award 2014 (emerging), a 3rd place in Days Japan International Photojournalism Awards (2014), TOTO Award for Photography (2014), 1st place, Media Foundation of India Award (2013) and a 2nd Place at ‘Colorful Guizhou’, 6th Photo China Original International Photographic Exhibition (2013). His images have been published and exhibited in various Indian and international magazines.
He also coordinates the activities of pepcollective (photographers for environment and peace) a collective of photographers who works on issues of environment and social justice in India.
