Ana Nance
Madrid, Spain
I create photographs and some video for commercial purposes that have a vision, tell a story or sell an idea. My experience spans many different platforms and areas within the industry; editorial, advertising, corporate, social media, personal and collaborative. I have directed many advertising campaigns with crews of up to 30 people, and traveled abroad to over 80 countries on productions. Exhibiting personal work and creating artistic projects are also a focus unifying long-term visions in my artistic pursue. My academic involvement is getting stronger by speaking to schools, workshops, and consulting to studios. I speak fluent Spanish and English. Born in 1969 to a Spanish mother and an American father in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Studied Photography and Art History at Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a B.F.A. In 1991 moved to New York City as the personal assistant to Eliane Laffont President of Sygma Pictures. During this time I also assisted at The International Center of Photography. In 1993 I was rewarded a job as a photographer to go around the world in less than a 100 days without the use of modern transportation in a race challenge against other photographers from other locations in the world for Charles Heidsieck Champagne. That began the pursuit of my own career, creating a brand and style of my own. In 1993-1998 I worked for Scholastic Publishing as an in-house studio photographer and editor. In 2001 began my working relationship in Spain, on advertising campaigns and full- time collaboration with El Pais Semanal. A ten-year collaboration with Marie Claire Magazine ended when the magazine made a corporate editorial change in 2012. In 2004 until present I began working with Redux Pictures and Vault Archives. My exhibition experience is as a solo artist as well as in group shows.
