Same // Different
Uguali e diversi (same and different) is a reflection that investigates on the parent-child relationship. It has been exposed in occasion of the 4th Biennial of Italian Young Photographers at the CIFA (Italian Centre of Art Photography) in Bibbiena.
The project wants to be an objective analysis on the topic.
I compared four couples taking a position slightly aggresssive and far from neutral which literally invades the personal space of each other.
Black background and white t-shirt for all the couples are used in order not to distract the viewer.
Looking at the pictures, what is immediately visible is the evident physical similarity of the couples, however, by focusing on them is possible to read what their bond(legame ma è come relationship) relationship really is. In some pictures the proximity and the invasion of the personal space make that a conflictual or a harmonious relationship betweem the subjects can be immediately spotted.
Babies born before the 37 weeks of gestation are defined “prematures”.
Sometimes they weight less than 500 grams and they know the struggle before knowing the life.
I have been in a neonatal intensive care unit where incubators, catheter, feeding tubes and breathing masks replace the uterus/mothers womb. It was late night and I initially felt like my sensations where closely connected to the stereotyped fragility that we usually associate to a baby, especially to a newborn.
Despite this sense of fragility, if we observe the picture we see that a great strenght and determination comes out.
So, if a 500 grams newborn baby has the strenght to fight his battle for survival, this is the proof that there is nothing a human being could not achieve or overcome in life.
Unfortunately, we use to talk very little about this warriors.
