Andrea Ranalli
Rome, Italy
I was born and raised in Rome, Italy.
I started photography in early 90’s shooting the Jazz scene in the Rome area.
After a while i start working for a couple of music magazine and got more involved in the stage and live photography.
In the last years I was lucky enough to shot some of the most famous artist of jazz and rock music, always trying to catch the magic of the show in one expression.
I think that every stage picture is a portrait, that’s why I’d like to refer to my pictures as “live portraits”.
In 2004 I was the official photographer for the just born Italian Women Motorbike Championship, and this offer me the chance to work for some of the most important motorbikes magazine, as In Moto and Motosprint.
In 2006 I worked with the agency Ciamillo-Castoria, shooting the Lega A, the main Italian basketball league.
In 2007 II started a new phase of my career working with video. I made several documentaries about motorcycling for the Italian television MotoTV and the UK web-tv Babelgum.com. Working with motorcycling legends as Giacomo Agostini and Marco Lucchinelli and the two times Superbike Champion James Toseland.
In the last few years I produced the editorial contents of the Eni branded site www.eniracing.com
Lately I started working on social issue driven reportages and documentaries as a member of Shoot4Change, a no-profit organization made out of photographers, designers and artists who share part of their time for shooting humanitarian reportages for NGOs and other social organizations.
