Andrew Hida is an award-winning filmmaker and video producer. He firmly believes in the power of non-fiction visual storytelling to create powerful, compelling and beautiful stories about the human experience.
His work includes branded content, journalism and documentary film defined by a distinct cinematic visual aesthetic and unique editing style. Andrew’s background in journalism shapes his approach to crafting story structures and sophisticated narratives. He provides full-service production of high-quality content for a diverse set of clients including editorial publications, advocacy organizations and brands as diverse as The New York Times, The American Jewish World Service and Minerva Schools.
Andrew is a co-founder of Spēk Pictures, a creative visuals production studio. Formerly, Andrew was a Multimedia Producer at Talking Eyes Media and a production intern at the Emmy Award-wining production studio MediaStorm after completing his Master’s in Photography at Syracuse University.
Andrew was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. During his first career as a conservation ecologist with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, Andrew was struck by lightning, attacked by Capuchin monkeys, and hospitalized with Meningitis. He now prefers eating pizza in the comfort of his home.
Andrew is based out of San Francisco, California.
