Born in 1974 in Ulm, Germany, Annette Schreyer attended the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding and Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich. After receiving her Master’s degrees in dramaturgy, English literature and art history, she won a scholarship by the European Union for a working trip to Italy, where she started her career as a photographer.
Her artistic interest lies in portrait photography with an emphasis on storytelling. She is particularly committed to projects that look at contemporary, sensitive social topics including gender politics, family and women's issues.
Her pictures have received various international awards and have been exhibited in Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, Moscow and the USA.
In 2012 she published her first photo book, “Same but Not. Twins in their Adolescence“ (Ed. Postcart) which gained a Honorable Mention at the Premio Marco Bastianelli Book Prize 2013.
She is also the co-artistic director of the award-winning Storm &nd Stress Co., an interdisciplinary company that creates and produces plays with international artists, founded in 2009 with her twin sister Birgit Schreyer Duarte.
Annette Schreyer lives in Rome and Munich.
