Arif Setiawan (Indonesia, 1986) was graduated from Material Engineering in 2010. After a year working at electronic manufacturer, in 2011 he found his way in photography. Working mostly on long term personal project, Arif use photography as a medium to discover more about himself and to share his thought about life.
His work, Arif explore his country in social economic movement. In Powering Java (2012) he documented the energy usage and development in Indonesia, a developed country where its people always trying to increase their standard ways of living by increasing energy usage. A big numbers of unemployment and a number of litter, he produces Gold (2011). As a still life catalog-like photo project, he find some people who rise between unemployment and litter issue.
