Ashi Fachler
San Diego, CA, United States
Ashi was born in London, England in 1967 and by age 4 made the trip to Tel Aviv, Israel where he grew up.
His first influence as a photographer was his mother’s Brownie camera that was soon replaced by dozens of cameras paving the way to today’s latest technologies.
Making his way to the West Coast shores in 1991 to study Advertising Arts, Ashi soon excelled in the arts field winning numerous awards including two Awards of Excellence from the Creative Show in San Diego.
A graduate of The Art Institute of California Ashi became a teacher directing the next generation of artists down their own path of self-discovery and expression.
The search for the “raw street” has taken Ashi on many wonderful journeys, each revealing one more layer of the complex relation between the photographer and his subjects. Shooting mainly in black-and-white allows Ashi to express not only the visible emotions present in each photo but also the hidden layers, revealing themselves to the viewer only on second, third and fourth glance.
Throughout the 90a and up to today Ashi’s commercial photos have appeared in numerous magazines, mostly covering the pool and billiard scene worldwide. His artistic photos have been featured in Pacific San Diego Magazine and adorned the walls of fine-art and photography aficionados the world-wide.
Today Ashi continues the exploration of the human element through his camera lens exhibiting his work in various venues dedicated to photography and fine-arts.
As you explore the relationship between photographer-subject-viewer please keep in mind that the street around you is teaming with the yet-undiscovered souls that make up society-at-large.
