I’m a storyteller. A musician of sorts who plays many instruments to bring a story to life. I like both the deep notes of bass that thump in our bellies and the treble pitches of surprise and delight. I use visual images to create a narrative that inspires and gives cause to pause and wonder. I don’t like the immediate, I enjoy spinning the web of longing, of what if? The intense dance of light and dark and the playfulness of color and saturation lend a hand in making my work both emotive and vibrant. I’ve been called “complex,” which I love. I’ve been dubbed “intense,” which I pray is true. I want my art to slow people down, bring people into themselves and find the complex, intense and even playful parts of themselves. Life is incredibly serious…there is much beauty to find, support and reveal in a very short period of time. Yet, in its seriousness is the mystical nature of creativity and collaboration where we get to skip and tumble and laugh at our true human nature.
My work has been mostly determined by my need to figure out who and what I am in this uncertain world. Am I an Olympian, a psychologist, a photographer, a filmmaker, a lover, a seeker, a musician, a horse trainer, an explorer or a writer? Each image I create depicts the breadth of my life experiences, as well as those of who or what I am capturing. I love that life is at once both complex and incredibly simple. For what I know to be true is this: there is nothing of greater importance than being in alignment with oneself, which is an intricate and tricky endeavor, but there is only one path to revealing our Truth, and that is Love. And Love is born from vulnerability, uncertainty…a not knowing. And I am willing to 2 Step with both to reveal inspiring original ideas.
