Atilio Orellana was born in Tucumán, Argentina, in 1982.
In 1999 he graduated from the School of Fine Arts. He participated in a Photographic technique and Black & White laboratory workshop in 2004. After this he started working as a freelance photographer.
From 2005 to 2011 he worked for Infoto agency in Tucumán, covering general news throughout the north of Argentina.
In 2011 he won the 2nd prize story in the category Spot News and the 3rd prize in the category Portraits in the Latin American Pictures of the Year (POY), the same year he received a scholarship to participate in the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop in Buenos Aires.
In 2013 he was selected to participate in El reportaje fotográfico de la vida cotidiana workshop, of Gabriel García Márquez Foundation (FNPI) in Colombia.
In 2014 he was nominated to participate in the Joop Swart Masterclass, of the World Press Photo.
His work has been published in different national media, such as Clarín, Olé, Viva, Ñ, Pagina12, Perfil, Gazpacho, Fotomundo, Acción and Télam agency, among others; as well as international media such as AP, AFP, DPA, Getty Images, and EFE. He also realized works for Greenpeace and Amnesty International.
He is a Co-Founder & photographer in Agencia ZUR.
