Balazs Turay

Balázs Turay is a Budapest-based photographer with a deep interest in human rights issues. His field of work includes documenting the aftermath of the 2008-09 leathal attacks on Roma families in Hungary. He attended at court hearings following the racially motivated attacks and published, and/or participated in publishing a number writings about hate speech and hate crimes.
Balazs Turay worked as a volunteer for a number of organizations, among them the Chance for The Children Foundation (2014), Amnesty International Hungary (2012-13), Migszol / Migrant Solidarity Group of Hungary (2013) and the Jhai Bhim Community in Hungary (2012).
Balazs collaborated in a project entitled 'Volunteers On The Rise' which aimed to document and examine the activity of Hungarian volunteers during the refugee crises in 2015.
Balazs Turay has been documenting opposition demonstrations, the activity of civil groups and NGO's for several years. He works independently from the main-stream media and aims to create imagery that enables social change.
