Melissa Tait
Winnipeg, MB, Canada
My name is Melissa and I take pictures (also known as peektures, if I’m being silly).
Sometimes the pictures are moving, sometimes they’re still.
In either case I love making pictures to catch breathtaking light, to learn about people, and to tell a story.
Mostly, I love to capture moments.
Since 2012 I’ve been based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba as multimedia editor at the Winnipeg Free Press. I work out of the one and only Winnipeg Free Press News Café where people come to eat and drink and sometimes meet an astronaut.
Prior to Winnipeg I was with Our Kids Media as multimedia manager in Toronto. I spent a year in the newsroom at the Waterloo Region Record as a reporter/photographer, and one summer there as photography intern. I graduated with a love of visual storytelling along with my diploma in photojournalism from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ont.
My work has appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press, Brandon Sun, Toronto Star, National Post, Maclean’s Magazine, Waterloo Region Record, Hamilton Spectator, Guelph Mercury, and PDN Magazine among others.
