I'm a sophomore at my hometown school, Arizona State University. I study at the university's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, one of the nation's most highly regarded journalism schools.
I'm currently the photo editor at The State Press, ASU's award-winning digital student publication (the largest of its kind in the country). I hire, train and oversee student photojournalists on a round-the-clock basis and coordinate the production of original art to accompany stories, in addition to standalone photo essays and galleries. I also get to manage the creative direction of the photo desk. It's really stressful, but I love my job.
I started as a full-time staff photographer at The State Press covering general news, arts and entertainment, sports, spot news, student life, in-depth investigations, midterm elections and more. After my first semester, I was promoted to assistant photo editor, where I finished out my freshman year.
School and work keep me pretty busy, but I'll always want to make time to get out from behind the desk for freelance work, because my heart belongs out in the field, shooting every day.
