Brian Ongoro is a documentary photographer and visual storyteller based in Kisumu, Kenya, specializing in documentary, editorial, and commercial storytelling.
He began his career over seven years ago and has since documented powerful stories in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. His photography has appeared in international outlets such as The New York Times, BBC, CNN, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and The Guardian.
Brian is a regular contributor to Agence France-Presse, and Getty Images, and works as a consultant with Arete Stories, supporting visual storytelling for organizations including UNICEF, the World Food Programme, World Vision, Tearfund Canada, Africa 50 among others.
He is also the co-founder of Soulevement, a youth-led organization in Western Kenya that promotes mental wellness of youth through psychosocial support, physical development, education and skill development
Through his work, Brian explores themes of dignity, identity, and change, using visual storytelling as a tool to inform, connect, and inspire.
