Bryan Bennett

Bryan Bennett is a freelance photojournalist based in San Diego, California. Bryan graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Photography with a concentration in photojournalism in December of 2017. During the summer of 2017, Bryan was the V.J. Lovero Photography Intern at The Players' Tribune. He spent the entirety of 2016 as a multimedia specialist intern at MLive.com/Kalamazoo Gazette. He spent his 2015 summer as an intern for the Erie Times-News in Erie, Pa., where he produced daily editorial content for print and web, which included tweeting, touting (video based platform), story reporting, writing, as well as still photography.
Bryan has strong interests in photographing sports. After being an athlete himself, Bryan is driven to capture the intense emotion, concentration, peak action and quiet storytelling moments that are found in sports. Bryan was awarded first place in the sport feature category in the student-run RIT NPPA What We Do competition in the spring of 2015. Bryan was awarded the Gitner Family Award for portfolio and story in the 2016 RIT NPPA What We Do Competition and the Nikon Award for Portfolio in the 2017 RIT NPPA What We Do Competition. Bryan was named the 2016 National Press Photographers Association Student Clip Contest Photographer of the Year and the 2017 Northern Short Course in Photojournalism Student Photographer of the Year. Bryan was also given an Award of Excellence in Sports Action and placed silver in Sports Portfolio in College Photographer of the Year 72.
Bryan is a currently a member of the National Press Photographers Association.
