You could say a camera has been attached to my hip since eighth grade -- that's when I got my first little point-and-shoot, and boy, did I wear that Canon out. Thousands of pictures later in my junior year at UT Austin, I got a spot on the photo staff at The Daily Texan. It was there I began to learn how to make compelling images while developing my love for chasing color and light, and had the inkling of an idea that maybe this beloved hobby was something I could do for a living.
Nowadays, I'm lucky enough to call this passion my career. I'm currently in my home state of Texas working as a multimedia journalist at the Tyler Morning Telegraph. The Piney Woods region is rich with history and steeped in tradition. Its communities, vibrant and full of southern hospitality. I'm thankful for each person who lets me into their life through my lens and allows me to share their story with others in East Texas and beyond.
It's not often you'll see me without my camera at my hip, but if you do, I'm probably eating lots of Tex-Mex and barbecue, playing my favorite tunes on the piano, loudly cheering on the longhorn football team or driving to another national or state park to explore.
