Cheryl Guerrero

Cheryl's passion lies in documentary photography and portraiture. She was recently selected for a fellowship position at the Los Angeles Times as a photojournalist and video journalist in July 2013 and currently holds this position. For three years, Cheryl previously worked with the Los Angeles Times Community News (Glendale News-Press, Burbank Leader, Pasadena Sun and Valley Sun) as a staff photographer. She is currently working on a video series on breaking (breakdancing) and has continued her portraiture and audio interviews with b-girls for the past two years. She hopes to freelance on the side for magazines that support hip hop culture, arts and entertainment.
In 2009, Cheryl moved to Southern Calif. to freelance for newspapers. Her freelance work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times Community News, Orange County Register and Press-Enterprise.
She was selected as a visual journalist for Poynter Institute's Summer Fellowship program in 2008. Cheryl has interned at the Oakland Tribune, Star Tribune (Minneapolis, Minn.), Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio), Palm Beach Post (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Miami Herald and Chicago Tribune. As a San Jose, Calif. native, Cheryl graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in journalism and a minor in marketing in 2007.
Cheryl currently resides in Anaheim, Calif. She is available for freelance work in Calif. and throughout the United States.
