Christa Holka photographs people. In her work, a portrait is the occasion for an encounter that is full of (often very queer) potential. Her interest in performance underlines how a photograph can say, 'something is happening'. In Christa's work, though, this moment of action is layered with memory and anticipation - with what happened before and what might happen next.
Holka has an MA in Fine Art from Central St.Martins College of Art & Design, a BFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago and a BA in Literature from the University of New York at Buffalo.
