Born and raised in Germany, I am working as a freelance photojournalist and photo editor out of my hometown Hamburg.
In the past 20 years I have gained expert knowledge in the field of photojournalism, working as an executive photo editor in Hamburg and Los Angeles.
I am also a member of the Photojournalists Committee of Experts at the German Federation of Journalists (DJV, Deutscher Journalisten Verband).
In March 2018, I was greatly honored to receive the title of the Official Royal Court Photographer of the Kingdom of Hohoe Gbi Traditional Ghana for his Majesty King Cephas Kosi Bansah in recognition and appreciation of special grants and contribution to the Kingdom of Hohoe, Ghana.
My travel documentaries have brought me to many destinations outside of Europe and the US such as Fiji, Vanuatu and China, where I was honoured with the 'Humanity Photo Award' in the category 'Portrait & Costume' by the China Folklore Photographic Association and UNESCO.
Thanks to Humanitarian Projects and work for the European Commission and different NGOs, I have been able to visit many African countries to explore the beauty of Africa's culture and also visually confront the viewer abroad with the social issues of this continent.
My personal longterm projects in my home country Germany focus on people, their heritage, their culture, their feeling about 'Heimat'.
Many international print magazines and newspapers such as London Times, People Magazine, GEO Germany, GEO Spain, GEO Russia, Bunte, Stern, View or Bauer Media Group as well as online outlets from all around the world such as Spiegel.de, New York Post, Daily Mail, Paris Match Afrique and many more have published my stories and documentaries.
For me the most important part in working on my own projects or on assignments for clients is authenticity. Do you want to have your story told with honest documentary or portraiture photography? Then send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
