Cory Allen
Brooklyn, New York
Cory Allen has been professionally mixing and recording audio for 5 years. He first started working in audio at the School of Visual Arts under guidance from award-winning veteran sound mixer Chris Newman. In 2009, he began working at Gotham Sound and Communications, the leading rental house and retailer for New York City’s production sound market. At Gotham, Cory trained customers and staff on a wide range of equipment and applications: He consulted with customers to create simple, lightweight “one-man-band” bags for documentary shooters, and with production companies to design massive systems capable of monitoring and reliably recording dozens of audio channels at once.
Since becoming a freelancer, Cory has worked on a variety of productions, including Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee“, VH1′s “Black Ink Crew” & “Love & Hip Hop“, Spike’s “Ink Master“, and ABC’s “What Would You Do?“ He has also continued training people on audio equipment, and been an instructor for the audio portion of RED Digital Cinema’s “Reducation” program.
