Athens, GA, United States
My name is David Barnes and I'm currently a student at the University of Georgia working towards a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies and a minor in Consumer Economics.
My love of visual storytelling has lead me to the University of Georgia's Visual Journalism Program where I study techniques used by photojournalists and picture/video/sound editing by creating media photo assignments.
Outside the classroom, I work as a photo intern at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In the past, I have also interned at the University of Georgia's Athletic Association where I cover NCAA games, press conferences, and conduct photo shoots with athletes and coaches. I have taken on both staff and managerial positions at my university's student newspaper, The Red & Black, as a photo editor and staff photographer.
As an Entertainment and Media Studies major, I am trained in advanced TV and film production techniques, non-linear video editing, writing for film and digital media and lighting for TV and film. I have applied this knowledge as a production intern and production assistant for Fog Edge Media, a boutique production company contracted by the DIY Network.
