He started working as photographer for the national news agency Noticias Argentinas (NA) in 1977.
In 1982 he was one of the founders of Argentine news agency Diarios y Noticias (DyN) working as photographer and photo editor.
In 1985 becomes the Agence France Presse (AFP) regional chief photographer for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay based in Buenos Aires.
Garcia had covered ten soccer World Cups (Argentina’78, Spain ’82, Mexico’86, Italy’90, USA’94, France’98, Korea-Japan 2002, Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.
The Olympic Games in Seoul’88, Barcelona’92, Atlanta’96, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Iberoamerican summits in Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, America’s Summit, Presidential elections, inaugurations, cups and rebellions in Latin America. The Malvinas/Falklands war between Argentina and the United Kingdom in 1982.
His work about Madres de Plaza de Mayo (mothers of the disappeared in Argentina during the military dictatorship 1976-1983) participate in the Festival Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, France, 1995.
Garcia is co-editor of the book “En Negro y Blanco” a photographic summary about state’s terrorism in Argentina, in 2006, and the book “30 años. Fotoperiodismo en Democracia”, in 2013.
