I’m an independent photographer and filmmaker living in Seattle, Washington. I bring a theoretical approach to my practice with an interest in equity and justice. Much of my theoretical framework comes from my Cultural Studies graduate degree, my Comparative History of Ideas undergraduate degree, and my world travel. I’ve completed more than 35 assignments for The New York Times and contribute to many other outlets.
I have been a professional visual storyteller for more than 15 years. I have work, study, and travel experience in more than 45 countries and am fluent in Spanish. I recently served on the board of directors of Blue Earth Alliance for several years.
I have extensive experience with wildfires, disaster zones, hurricane coverage, and more. I have completed two hostile environment trainings that include combat first aid (once with Columbia University on a bursary from the Rory Peck Trust and once with Hawthorne Proactive, sponsored by Reuters). I have also completed the RT-130 wildland fire training course sponsored by Reuters.
I’m constantly playing and watching soccer, spending time in the outdoors, devouring vegetarian food with my girlfriend, Christina, and photographing our cat, Monkey.
