For the past 36 years I have been adding to what I call "my collective archive of visual experiences." The images we make influence our understanding of the world around us. Images are stories. And we all have one. Some stories are poignant, some are banal, and others equally frightening. I consider photography an art for social change. Whether I am working for a corporation or an advertising agency, everything is filtered through my life experiences. I am still Martin Dixon, the well-traveled nomad, but my perspectives have been enlarged and refined. Working in Africa for so many years has been a very satisfying challenge.
