FOCUS
Berlin, Germany
Djamila Grossman is a freelance photographer currently based in Berlin and Zurich. She spent nearly 10 years studying and working in the U.S. and is bilingual in English and German. As a staff photographer at a major metro newspaper in the US, she shot everything from breaking news, portraiture, legislative coverage, protests and intimate documentary projects. Often in conjunction with video, which she edited herself on deadline.
Since going freelance in 2011 Djamila has focused on carving out her own photographic voice while shooting a variety of reportage and portrait assignments. Djamila's work has an emotional, intuitive approach and visual language. She is quick on her feet and travels light. She is dogged enough to handle tricky situations successfully and has a great working relationship with editors and reporters.
