Dougal Brownlie is a Visual Journalist who was raised in a small college town of Bellingham, Washington. From a young age, the passion for photography and capturing everyday moments had always captivated Dougal's interest. In the fall of 2012 Dougal took the opportunity to pursue his love for the visual arts and move to Ventura, California to attend Brooks Institute and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Visual Journalism.
While at Brooks Institute, he discovered his love for sports, event, and moment based photography as well as rediscovering how much he loved the film world with particular love for being either behind the camera or spending hours in a dark room cutting the perfectly edited documentary or narrative.
Dougal attended the Eddie Adams Workshop Class of XXVIII in the fall of 2015. While attending the workshop he was placed in the sports team. The group was led by Getty Images chief photographer Al Bello, Sports Illustrated Director of Photography Brad Smith, photographer and founder of PhotoBrigade.com Robert Caplin, and Washington Post photographer Toni Sandys Mallon.
In October 2015, Dougal accepted a job in the Midwest and joined the St. Joseph News Press as a full time staff photojournalist and serving the greater Buchanan community for the small town newspaper in Northern Missouri.
