Things Doug thinks you should know about Doug:
Call him Doug. It's only "Douglas" because douglevy.com was taken.
Doug grew up halfway between Boston and Providence and now lives just north of the city, but,
Doug spent six years umpiring professional baseball.
So he's not really a huge Red Sox fan.
Doug started umpiring Little League games when he was 13.
Doug believes that photos should show who you are, not just what you look like.
Doug thinks that if you ever find yourself in Birmingham, you need to eat barbeque at Jim ‘n Nicks.
Doug thinks everything tastes better with hot sauce.
Except for cereal, that would be weird.
Doug also knows that there is a Bruce Springsteen song for every occasion.

Ryan Sweenor of Generation Next - This Old House
Doug Levy
Back on a rainy day in April, This Old House sent me to Rhode Island, to photographer builder Ryan Sweenor as part of their Generation NEXT series. Some clients are just a natural fit, and anyone who has followed my ongoing New England Craftsmen series will know how perfect a fit shooting for TOH is for me. We weren’t quite sure Mother Nature would cooperate for this one, but (most) of the rain held off and I spent some time in a 3-story lift to capture some shots of Ryan in action.
A former college baseball player, Ryan now works for his father’s Rhode Island construction company, and my only regret from this shoot was we didn’t get to see the finished property (which included a massive fish tank/wall.) I know the blog’s been a bit sparse lately, but things should be heating up around here soon.
New England Craftsmen - Ray the Pilot
Doug Levy
As part of my ongoing series of photos of New England Craftsmen, last week I headed to the Nashua Airport to meet Ray Grenier. I was introduced to Ray in a bit of a roundabout way via my friend Ashley at PlaneSense and Wendell at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire (thanks to you both!), and the short time I spent with Ray was one of my favorite hours of the year.
