Elaine is a visual journalist and documentary photographer based in Detroit, Michigan and Tijuana, Mexico. She is a founding member of the journalist collective Transborder Media and is producing her first documentary about deported U.S. veterans. She worked in Detroit as a breaking news photographer from 2014-2015, and has been photographing and documenting the U.S.-Mexico border for the past three years. Her work focuses on social issues affecting communities and identities.
She was awarded second place at the Gender and Justice competition held by the Supreme Court of Mexico, United Nations Women, United Nations Human Rights of Mexico and several other organizations in November 2014 for her work on deported U.S. veterans.
