Emily Harger is a documentary filmmaker, video producer, and photojournalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her roots in Appalachian Pennsylvania drive her to explore the urban/rural divide in the US, as well as the transitions and resiliency of rural American communities. Her stories expose socioeconomic issues through a hopeful and cinematic lens.
Most recently, she was a Filmmaker-in-Residence at the Center for Investigative Reporting, working as a member of the all-female studio Glassbreaker Films.
Her work has been published with The Center for Investigative Reporting, Reveal News, Glassbreaker Films, Narratively, Bloomberg, Kertis Creative, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Washington County Observer Reporter, and WOUB Public Media.
