Erica Canepa is an Italian documentary photographer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Her personal work mainly focuses on women and identity issues, health, and religion. She is attracted by rituals as paths into human complexity. Her studies in Art History combined with a childhood spent in Italian museums is noted in Erica's dramatic use of light.
In 2019, Erica has been featured by Artsy as one of 20 Rising Female Photojournalists and she has been nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass.
Her work is internationally featured by several publications: The New York Times, Time Magazine, BBC, Bloomberg News, National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed News, M Le Magazine du Monde, Le Monde, Americas Quarterly, Internazionale, Marie Claire, 6mois, La Stampa, Fanpage.it, among others, and by galleries in the UK, Germany and in various cities in Italy.
Canepa holds a BA in Art Restoration, an MA in Photojournalism, and she is an Eddie Adams Workshop XXXI alumni.
