Erik Castro has 20 years of experience as a freelance photojournalist and has been a weekly contributing photographer to The Press Democrat for the past decade while frequently contributing to the San Francisco Chronicle and Sonoma Magazine. He has covered homelessness issues, immigration, wildfires and the food and wine industry. He also documented influential winemakers for a book titled, The New California Wine published by Ten Speed Press.
Castro has won multiple National Press Photographers Association Awards for his multimedia work and more recently for his wildfire coverage in Lake County, California in 2016. He has exhibited his photography in Los Angeles, Seattle and locally at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.
