John O'Mahony
St Petersburg, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Self-Shooting Producer/Director of visually arresting and journalistically rigorous documentaries across a range of genres, specializing in Factual, Current Affairs, Arts, Science and Russia.
My credits include numerous projects for Discovery, including episodes of Unexplained Files, which included extensive drama recon, Life on the Line, an observational series about factory production lines and How Do They Do it, a popular science show.
I directed and shot a highly controversial C4 Dispatches which exposed corruption in the top echelons of British politics, shedding light on the financial links between the House of Lords and Russian Oligarchs. I also produced and directed a BBC Panorama about one of the biggest stories of recent years, the radioactive poisoning of Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko.
In addition to my experience making fast turnaround, high profile current affairs, I worked for two years as a director on the BBC's flagship Arts programme, The Culture Show. My treatments have been stylish, innovative and format driven.
My background is as an award winning journalist, writing for the Guardian and other major British newspapers. I was also editor of the Time Out Guide to Moscow.
I self-shoot on most HD formats/cameras and can edit on FCP and Avid Express.
