Forough Alaei
Women Photograph
Tehran, Tehran Province, Iran
Forough Alaei was born in 1989, Iran. In her youth, she used to do paintings while she studied law. As an undergraduate student, she figured out the enormous inequality against the women early. Thus, searching for a new way to present her thoughts, she found photography interesting. As a painter she recognized colors as well as frames better; and as a law student, she was conversant with Iranian female difficulties. She has started photography since 2015 and become a photojournalist in Donya-e-Eghtesad newspaper, the most famous economic daily in Iran. In a short time, she got fond of documentary photography and filmmaking. Based on her background as well as research interests she explores issues related to humanity and social matters with a special focus on women’s right. She has recently worked on Iranian female football fans who are banned to enter the stadiums. Although a conservative personality, Forough takes so much risks in her projects, a sign of her passion for giving a voice to her subjects.
She got the "First place" in three competitions in 2019 "World Press Photo contest " , "Picture of the year(POYi)" and "Istanbul Photo Awards".
