Roberto Spampinato
Milano, MI, Italia
journalist, photographer and documentary filmmaker.
His debut in the world of professional photography is through collaboration with Elisabetta Catalano, famous portraitist of the most important characters of showbiz and italian culture at the turn of the 70 and 80. After a few years living in London, where he study photojournalism and semiotics at the Print College of London, he began working in Milan, where he moved in the meantime, with some of the major national fashion magazine, as Anna, Grazia, DonnaModerna, Practica, Donna. In "91, during a trip with the Trans-Siberian from Beijing to Moscow, he finds himself in the Red Square to document the summer coup that deposed Gorbachev. That event definitively sanctioned the transition to photojournalism, finally abandoning the magical world of models and fashion shows, in which he had never felt at ease.
