Born in Copenhagen (Denmark) in 1972, Freya Ingrid Morales graduated in Journalism from the Universidad de Navarra (Spain) in 1996. She started working as a stringer based in Copenhagen for the Spanish news agency Agencia EFE until mid-1999. That same year she began working as a journalist for the Danish NGO DanChurch Aid. Received a European Masters in Conference Interpretation from the Copenhagen Business School in 2001. Between October 2002 and January 2011, she worked as an interpreter/press officer at the Spanish Embassy in Copenhagen.
Freya studied the One Year Certificate in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, graduating in June 2012.
Back again in Copenhagen, Freya assisted the Danish war photographer Jan Grarup. Freelance photographer for Bloomberg News covering Danish economy and finances (Feb. 2013 - present), shooting still and video. This freelance work has been published, among others, in TIME, Wall Street Journal, Fortune, LA Times, NY Daily News, Washington Post, USA Today, SF Gate, CNBC, Businessweek, ABC News, Bloomberg, Irish Times, Die Burger, Volksblad, Børsen, Jyllands-Posten, Berlingske Tidende. Other works were published in El Pais, Politiken, and Kristeligt Dagblad.

Winner of the ENPI Jury Prize, 2014.
Nominated twice to the UNICEF Photo of the Year Award: in 2012 for her work in Mogadishu, Somalia, and in 2013 for her project on the Syrian refugees living in hosting countries.
