Gareth Smit is a South African photojournalist and filmmaker committed to documenting the social, political and economic issues of concern that shape our world today. Currently based in New York Smit graduated from the International Centre of Photography in 2015. He has worked as an independent visual journalist for The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post and is currently the Photo Urbanism fellow of the Design Trust for Public Space.
