Aerotropolis
Giulio Di Sturco
Aerotropolis is the post-modern city, a vision or perhaps a mirage, it is a window of opportunities to solve the dilemma of modernity: reconciling economic development and sustainable growth. Although most Aerotropoli development to date has been organic, spontaneous and haphazard, in the future it can be more economically efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and socially and environmentally sustainable by adopting a synergic approach, which includes strategic infrastructure and urban planning.
Ganges, Death of a river
Giulio Di Sturco
I started making photographs along the Ganges back in 2008. At the time not everything I saw in India was charming, vibrant or grand. I often feel that’s all people want to see when they think of India; the exotic east in all its grandeur and mystery. But I was fascinated by the light, this feeble sun that you could stare at with your naked eyes without fear of getting blind. Through a soft diffusion composed mostly of dust, pollution and smoke, I spent days and often weeks over many years sitting by the banks of the Ganges watching the water softly caress the human beast. In an uneasy slumber the cities along the river cleanse their industrial and domestic waste into the riverbed at a slow but steady speed . It is widely contested that the Ganges will die out in our lifetime. This is my journey down the Ganges.
