Goupy Didier
Paris, France
At 23 Didier Goupy returned from the USA with a camera in his pocket to accompany his painter-father on a visit to Morocco. His first photos were taken in Casablanca. Travel and photography were to become his work and his lifeblood.
In 1984 Didier Goupy travelled to Ireland. The photos he took there were immediately published in the magazine Photo. A trip to Egypt and another publication, this time in Photo-Magazine.
In 1986 Didier Goupy moved to Paris, where he started working as a professional photographer. In 1987 he began a close collaboration with the Bayard Press group and joined the Sygma photo agency in 1991.
Between 1993 and 2001 he travelled several times to India. Here he discovered his passion for the portrait, which would become the foundation of his future work and give rise to a number of series and new collaborations.
Today Didier Goupy continues his portrait research, inviting personalities from the world of science to pose for him with the intention of creating a digital installation in partnership with Michel Beaudouin-Lafon.
