Aden June 2015 A city under siege
Guillaume Binet
Aden. July 2015
Since late March 2015, the city is under siege by Houthi militias allied to the forces of former President Ali Abdallah Saleh deposed in 2011, during the Arab Spring revolutions.
Once a busy harbor of the Gulf of Aden, the city is now suffocating. Ruined buildings, deserted streets, checkpoints and daily air strikes: it is devastated by the fights between the Houthi insurgency, of Shiite obedience, supported by Iran, and the South Resistance armed by the Arab coalition. A black cloud that comes from the oil refineries that are burning, covers the city. The population is trapped, the death toll continues to rise. "
