Henry Siqueira Barras
Bogotá, Bogota, Colombia
Born in Brazil to a Swiss father and a Brazilian mother, I grew up in the Italian part of Switzerland. I studied political sciences and I am self made visual documentary researcher.
One year after a trip to West Africa in which I documented a tribe that practices Scarification, El País contacted me wanting to buy and publish my piece. Since then I have done numerous pieces for the Brazilian media, Swiss television, and for El País.
In collaboration with the media or Non-governmental organizations, I am interested in raising awareness about topics related to justice and social inequalities. However, as an inquisitive and disciplined professional I am mostly committed to my own long term projects which involve immersing myself in communities that challenge my own beliefs, paradigms and worldview.
I enjoy researching, writing, taking pictures and filming. If I can, I avoid video editing. I speak fluent Italian, German, French, English, Portuguese, Spanish and I also speak some Rumanian.
