Hiroyuki Nakada
中華人民共和国 上海市 上海
Hello everyone. Please bear with me for a while. My name is Hiroyuki Nakada. I have been living in Shanghai since 1999. It was around the time when Mavica (MVC-FD5) of SONY made its appearance in the market, toward the end of the 1990s, that I started to become aware of cameras. It was around the time when highly unique compact digital cameras started to be released by all kinds of manufacturers. I remember that I kept replacing my cameras every year. It was around that time that I moved to Shanghai. I was totally engrossed in taking photos there, but I had no sense at all that what was doing was a hobby. Photographing as much as I did to record my life and for memories, I ended up in breaking my digital cameras. I think that almost all of them were FUJI cameras. Quite some time after that, during my visit to Japan in February, 2008, I happened to stop by Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku and I found myself picking up RICOH GR digital II. It turned out to be the impetus that changed my life....How could I not be affected by the shared sensation between me and the GR in my hands....I became totally enraptured by the demon of photography.... I could no longer live without photography. It has reached the point where I could no longer forget , not ever for a brief moment , the pleasure in collecting in my camera the "living modeled objects " of the streets. For me, photography had become one of the methods to fulfill the spiritual needs within myself. It has continued to be more than that , never less than that. To put that into words, it had become the outburst of my curiosity. For me, I have no better method of expression than that.
