Irene Alison

Born in Naples in 1977. After graduating in Law in 2005, Irene attended a two year Master in Journalism course at the University Suor Orsola Benincasa in Naples, directed by Paolo Mieli. Upon becoming a professional journalist, she worked between 2005 and 2008 as an editor for the daily newspaper Il Manifesto, dealing mainly with photography. In 2009 she worked as an editor in D - La Repubblica delle Donne, the weekly magazine of the daily newspaper La Repubblica, where, along with working on current international issues, she continued writing about photography. Irene is currently Editor in chief of Rearviewmirror, a quarterly magazine devoted to photojournalism, published by Postcart. In last years she developed many journalistic projects in conjunction with photographers, publishing her features on magazine such as The Independent Magazine, L’Espresso, D - La Repubblica, XL, Marie Claire, Riders and many others.
Her articles about photography appear both on line and in the paper edition of the daily newspaper Il Sole24ore and she's a regular contributor for the Sunday supplement of the Corriere della Sera, La Lettura. She has been curator of exhibitions and editorial photography projects for, among others, Fotografia International Festival of Rome, Officine Fotografiche, Open Mind Gallery, Scuola Holden and Brighton Photo Fringe. Her first book, My Generation - Ten under- 40 Italian documentary photographers, has been published by Postcart in 2012.
