Irene Opezzo is the Photo Editor at the Italian daily newspaper La Stampa, where she is in charge of photo productions and image research.
Born in Italy (1982), she graduated from Politecnico of Milan in Communication Design and studied Photography at the CFP Bauer School. There she developed personal projects and specialized in photo editing. She worked as a photographer and photo assistant in Milan, Berlin and Brussels. In 2008, she became Photo Editor for the fashion magazines Look and Vogue Italia where she was in charge of the news, arts and photography channels of the website.
In 2010 she moved to Turin to pursue a career in photojournalism at the leading national newspaper La Stampa headed by Mario Calabresi.
She regularly publishes reportages and manages national and international photo assignments. She’s part of “Europa” project’s newspapers network:
Le Monde, El País, The Guardian, Gazeta Wyborcza and Suddeutsche Zeitung.
In 2015 she lived for 6 months in Los Angeles where she was Photo Editor of Vice News and collaborated with editors and producers.
She is a portfolio reviewer for events and festivals as PhotoLux (Lucca), Cortona On The Move, and Umbria World Fest (Foligno).
